Compared to the previous recommendation this configuration has the following benefits:
- Smaller impact to wetlands and woodlots,
- Direct access and an improved connection between existing and new alignments of Highway 6
- Improved intersection spacing
- Simplified configuration for drivers
Although this plan results in slightly higher costs, the transportation and environmental benefits of this configuration outweigh the minor cost difference.
